Dust is of major concern in the factories. A balanced animal feed contains all relevant nutrients, ranging from protein and energy sources to vitamins and minerals. Some of these minerals may be harmful in a concentrated form, and show a high propensity to dusting. Orffa has developed a specific coating technique which make minerals and other products virtually dust-free.
Excential Selenium 4000 is a unique source of pure organic selenium, which maximizes the utilization of selenium by the animal. Equally important is that this product does not produce dust when being handled. It is the only selenium source which has this feature. Bearing in mind that whilst selenium is an essential element to man and animal, it is also toxic at relatively low levels of inhalation, using a dust free product, maximises the safety of the operators producing premixes and compound feeds.
Besides Excential Selenium 4000, Orffa also offers dust free sources of iodine, inorganic selenium and cobalt in the form of the Elovital Miku products. The term “Miku”, meaning “beautiful sky” in Japanese, refers to the excellent physical properties of the product, resulting in an easy and safe application. Elovital Miku Io 10% (calcium iodate), Elovital Miku Se 1% (sodium selenite), Elovital Miku Se 4.5% (sodium selenite) and Elovital Miku Co 5% (cobalt carbonate) are in line with European legislation and occupational exposure limits. These limits indicate the maximum inhalation exposure to these minerals in the workplace before toxicity occurs.
