A zootechnical additive is any additive used to affect favorably the performance of animals in good health or used to affect favorably the environment. The category “zootechnical additives” is further divided into four functional groups. One functional group consists of digestibility enhancers. These substances will, when fed to animals, increase the digestibility of the diet through action on target feed materials. The majority of this group is comprised of enzymes, but other additives such as nutritional emulsifiers can also play a role.
