O que é eficiência alimentar ?
Uma definição simples sobre eficiência alimentar é o ganho de peso gramas ou kg de ração consumida, o inverso da taxa de conversão alimentar (CA) comumente usada. A eficiência alimentar também está intimamente ligada ao metabolismo energético, mas devido a uma série de fatores internos e externos a correlação com a concentração de energia da dieta é baixa. É importante entender a eficiência alimentar, pois impulsiona a realidade econômica das granjas, a competitividade das diferentes indústrias produtoras de proteína animal e a pressão sobre os recursos em todo o mundo.
Eficiência alimentar em frangos de corte
A eficiência alimentar na produção de frangos de corte é considerada alta quando comparada a outros espécies animais. A eficiência alimentar é expressa simplesmente como a taxa de conversão alimentar (CA), que representa a relação entre o consumo de ração e o ganho de peso. As linhagens comerciais de frangos de corte têm potencial impressionante de eficiência alimentar, o que ajuda o setor a ser mais sustentável e correto com o meio ambiente.
Eficiência alimentar em suinos
A eficiência alimentar é expressa atraves da ração consumida por ganho de peso. Uma pequena modificação é o uso do rendimento de carcaça em vez do do peso dos animais. O rendimento de carcaça é importante, pois tem um impacto econômico direto, pois os suínos estão sendo vendidos/pagos com base no peso da carcaça. O rendimento de carcaça é facilmente medido no final do processo de criação quando os animais são abatidos. Muitas vezes é estimado e, portanto, incorreto. A eficiência alimentar também pode ser expressa com base na energia consumida em vez da ração. Existe, no entanto, um ponto fraco na imprecisão da estimativa do conteúdo energético da ração e da energia absorvida pelo animal. A eficiência alimentar também pode ser expressa em termos financeiros porque o objetivo da produção de suínos é o uso dos recursos alimentares de forma mais eficiente e eficaz.
Eficiência alimentar em vacas leiteiras
A eficiência alimentar em vacas leiteiras é baseada na capacidade relativa de transformar alimentos em leite. Em outras palavras, é a quantidade de leite produzida por quantidade de matéria seca consumida. É, portanto, às vezes chamado de eficiência de ingestão de matéria seca. Ao calcular a eficiência alimentar, é importante ter acesso a dados confiáveis e precisos de ingestão de matéria seca. A pesagem da ração que foi fornecida deve ser complementada com a pesagem da ração recusada. A matéria seca dos alimentos e os componentes dos alimentos também devem ser monitorados de perto, pois variam no tempo. O conteúdo nutricional do leite também é de interesse no cálculo da eficiência alimentar. O Leite com Correção Energética (ECM) é calculado e baseado no nível de gordura e proteína no leite. Este último parâmetro permite a padronização e comparação entre raças ou fazendas.
Eficiência alimentar em peixes
A taxa de conversão alimentar (CA) é uma maneira eficaz para os produtores medirem a eficiência alimentar em seus sistemas. Vários fatores como espécie e sistema de produção irão causar variação da CA. Os valores para os peixes em cativeiro são, em geral, mais baixos do que os observados para os outros animais. Esses valores baixos (por exemplo, 1,0) podem ser confusos, pois parecem indicar que quase nenhum resíduo é gerado na alimentação. Ao levar em conta o nível de umidade da ração (+/- 10%) e dos peixes vivos (+/- 75%), fica claro que os resíduos são realmente gerados. Portanto, é interessante observar a eficiência da proteína (EP). Este parâmetro é calculado multiplicando-se a CA pela razão entre a porcentagem de proteína bruta da ração e a das espécies cultivadas. Outros indicadores de desempenho relacionados à eficiência alimentar também merecem ser investigados. O índice viscerosomático (IV), por exemplo, é a razão entre o peso das vísceras do peixe e o peso do animal. As vísceras não são tão valorizadas quanto os filés e, portanto, um aumento substancial na massa das vísceras não é desejável.
