The 30 th International Poultry Science Symposium (WPSA) (‘Science to practice – practice to science’) was held from 10 to 12 September 2018 in Zegrze, near Warschau (Poland).
During this symposium speakers from universities and the industry from all over Europe discussed different aspects regarding poultry production. Subjects varied from poultry nutrition, the quality of poultry products, the biological basis of poultry breeding and disease prevention in poultry production. During the symposium Tom Rijsselaere was invited to give two oral presentations.
The first presentation focused on the effect of different selenium sources on the selenium deposition in broiler muscle tissue as an indicator of the selenium status of the animal. Excential Selenium 4000 is a new generation of organic Selenium (L-Selenomethionine) and showed the highest Selenium deposition compared to other organic selenium sources.
In a second presentation the effect of adding the nutritional emulsifier Excential Energy Plus on several egg yolk parameters was discussed. Both studies were performed in collaboration with Belgian universities and research institutes.
The audience from Poland and other European countries showed high interest in the topics especially when a nice discussion was started at the end of the presentations. It was a great opportunity to share Orffa’s expertise on feed additives and feed solutions.
